This brownstone project was a complete renovation in which all structure was demolished except the landmark facade. The owners have a lively family and large group of friends. They requested that we build the maximum amount of square footage allowed. One owner is a film producer and required a production office. The other is a singer for whom we provided a studio. The top floor is a playroom and bedrooms for the children. In order to gain even more space, the back yard was excavated to provide light for a yoga studio and guestroom in the basement. A two-story 40 square foot atrium off the family room and living room was added. This addition and the basement spaces have a window wall of black steel and glass to allow the maximum light into the lower floors.
