Riverside Apartment

This 1200 square foot Riverside Drive coop apartment was completely reconfigured to provide three bedrooms and two baths for a family of four. Even though the budget was limited, built-in cabinets were incorporated into all rooms furthering the efficient use of space. Numerous building pipes and structures made this reconfiguration difficult. Some elements were worked around, but others were relocated. Convincing the coop building to allow these relocations and the installation of through the wall air conditioners where previously none had been allowed was a political as well and an architectural accomplishment which proved key to the success of this project. The effort resulted in a logical arrangement of bedrooms and bathrooms and an enlarged kitchen. But just as important, the opening up the living room and dining room increased the light and exposed long views of the Hudson River not previously realized.
